 A Message From the Founder So this message might be a little touchy-feely and I might not be able to write as well as "mindful MAMA" who writes "Confessions of a metroMAMA", but I will give it a try... As I am sitting here feeding my 9 1/2 month old, I can't believe that it is the middle of August, that it has rained every day this summer, that the Olympics are in Beijing, China, that I just celebrated my 7th anniversary, that my middle child turns 4 tomorrow and my oldest is starting kindergarten, that I am leaving my kids for a 'girls weekend in NYC' for a friend's bachelorette party, that my husband is going to watch all three kids by himself, AND that it took him 5 years and the birth of a son to change a wet diaper! I do believe it when they say "time flies".
Every few years I think individuals are faced with a crossroads of their life, and this year is definitely one for my family. I decided to go back to work. Not like taking care of three kids under the age of 5, running a web/graphic design business, managing metroMAMA, making meals, cleaning the house and doing laundry aren't all work! But I have decided to go back into Education. As many of you know, I have a Masters in Education in Technology and taught for 5 years prior to having children. So...I took a part time job at a Middle/High School in a neighboring town. I will be doing instructional technology (helping teachers integrate technology into the classroom...my PASSION) and also teaching business/computer classes. I am so excited to get out of the house and start up my career again and also be able to manage this site and my family. I will be adding a section to the upcoming newsletters on internet safety since so many of us are online now and how to keep yourself and your children safer online. Look for that next month! So... What does this mean for metroMAMA? I am going to be sending out the newsletter on a monthly basis and taking the summers off. It has been over a year since metroMAMA started and it has proven to be such a great resource to so many families. I will be sending out periodic emails from some great sponsors in between weeks. There is a GREAT pediatric dentist that wants to advise you on infant, child and special needs dentistry. We are also partnering up with a mompreneur from Connecticut to offer mineral makeup and her OWN line of all natural skin care through metroMAMA just in time for Christmas. I am also STILL working on the printed resource directory so you can take metroMAMA with you on the go. Connect with us in other ways... On facebook? metroMAMA is ADDICTED...
